Getting Back to the Surface
It’s been a little too long since my last post.
Not because the work stopped—but because life has a way of pulling you in directions you didn’t plan for. Lately, that direction has been the pursuit of a “normal” job. Applications, resumes, interviews… the whole process that so many of us have to navigate at one point or another.
And if I’m being honest, it’s been draining.
There’s a strange kind of friction that comes with it. You spend hours—days—at a desk, working toward something that you need to do… but not necessarily something you want to do. Then, when you finally have time to write, you’re still sitting in that same chair, staring at the same screen.
And the last thing you want to do… is stay there.
That’s been the biggest challenge lately.
It’s not the story. Book 4 is there. The world is there. The characters are there, waiting. If anything, they’ve been getting louder in the quiet moments—scenes forming, tension building, pieces falling into place.
But the act of sitting down and writing? That’s been harder than usual.
Not because the passion is gone—but because the energy has been spent elsewhere.
I think a lot of people understand this, whether they’re writers or not. There’s a difference between being busy and being fulfilled. And when too much time is spent on the first, the second starts to slip.
So this post is a bit of a reset.
Not just for the writing—but for showing up here more consistently.
Because this matters.
The Silent Depths series matters. The story we’re building together matters. And the fact that you’re here—reading, following along, supporting—matters more than I probably say often enough.
Book 4 is still moving forward. Maybe not as fast as I’d like, but it’s moving. And sometimes that’s the important part—keeping the momentum, even if it’s slower than planned.
Going forward, I’m making a commitment to be here more regularly. Even if it’s just a short update, a behind-the-scenes thought, or a glimpse into what’s coming next.
Because staying connected—to the work and to all of you—is part of what keeps this whole thing alive.
Thanks for sticking with me.
More soon.
